As we reach the 100 mile mark as we expect to enter the City of Alice , I have found myself two new traveling companions. One is "Pain" and the other is her sister named, "Blister."
Yes, that's me. My new friend, Jesus Bocanegra, caught me at a moment of rest on the side of the road. This taking a break thing, is a rare event with these 50 plus year olds. I must say I am impressed.
Someone joked that the border patrol was going to pull us over because our resting on the side of the road looked suspicious. Naw! I said, you boys have earned the respect of every person in this country. Some of them in fact, still carry shratnel and have metal parts where the doctors reassembled their broken bodies. Yet, as broken as they once were, with some of them in their sixties they move better than most men I know. Naw, boys, you've earned the right, take a rest on the side of our Texas highways, you've more than earned it.
