Valley Dentists Successful Political Event Marks A Turning Point In Their Political Efforts

I want to give the Rio Grande Valley Dentists a big thank you for their hugely successful event last night in which they honored me for supporting their efforts at the statehouse and in the community.

At this time in the political season it is good to see the hard work from the prior sessions payoff. I don't expect an opponent in the upcoming March primary and despite my public challenge, do not ever expect a Republican opponent in this district which lies in one of this state's strongest Democratic bastions.

One can never be quite certain however and so public statements of support at this critical time by much beloved groups such as the dentists this week and the medical profession last week, make it less likely I will see an opponent. My colleagues and friends from the legal profession were there last night as always and have quite frankly been there from the very beginning. For all the support shown I want to thank you.

My legislative colleagues, Rep. Ryan Guillen, Rep. Armando Martinez and Veronica Gonzales were also there to show their support. This was a nice gesture on their part. Each of these members are good friends and individually and collectively a "class act."

The event, which was held at the beautiful home of Dr. Joey and Arlene Cazares, also served as a fundraising effort by the dentists on my behalf. This like the doctors from the prior week marks a turning point as politicos from South Texas are not accustomed to an organized effort by these important professionals. The event was successful in all respects.

Listening to the concerns expressed by the doctors last night I realize we serve a common interest, namely, serving the people of South Texas. I am looking forward to a long and fruitful relationship.
