On your mark, get set, go! And their off! Today marks the first day for candidates to file for office in the upcoming election cycle. The AP reports on the mood across Texas on this day.
In Hidalgo County, their is some discussion that all four state representatives from that county will be filing together. This past session our county delegation, and much of the border delegation, had the best working relationship that has ever been seen. That is saying a lot.
I have business in the capitol city over the next few days and this plan to jointly file may hold true if the other members can wait for my return.
With or without the symbolic gesture look for the South Texas delegation to be more united in the coming years.

Rep. is your buddy Omar the Dist. Clerk also going to file with you?
You are mistaken or perhaps joking, but let me answer your question this way. Not speaking of anyone specifically, any elected official who suffers from an addiction, serves four masters.
To be effective, one must find a way to serve God, his family and his community. There is no room for a fourth master. I would advise any elected official suffering from an addiction to rapidly find a way to eliminate or control it.
Failure to do so will render you ineffective as a leader. All communities are deserving of effective, competent leadership.
