Good Morning Folks!
After driving six hours last night from Austin to Edinburg, I hit the bed like a rock. I rose early this morning to prepare myself for this mornings big event. It's another beautiful day here in South Texas. It's certainly a good day to reaffirm my commitment to helping the good people of my community.
The journey continues. In two hours I will join my legislative colleagues and file for re-election to a third term to the Texas House of Representatives.
(9:00 a.m.) Legislators are filing in to the Hidalgo County Party headquarters here in Pharr, Texas. Rep. Ryan Guillen who filed yesterday in Austin is here to show his support for his colleagues. Rep. Veronica Gonzales, Rep. Kino Flores, Rep. Armando Martinez and myself are present.
(9:15 a.m.) We all simultaneously file our intention to seek re-election. The gentleman between myself and Rep. Flores is Hidalgo County Party Chairman, Juan Maldonado.

We immediately thereafter posed for photos.

Well there you have it. The entire Hidalgo County legislative delegation, all incumbent Democrats, are all filed in and ready to go. Most of us are prepared for opponents but none are expected. Save one that is, there is of course talk that a Republican may run against Rep. Veronica Gonzales.
It should be noted that history has not been kind to the Republican party in Hidalgo County. No Republican has been elected to hold office in Hidalgo County. This is not commentary, this is fact.
