If there is a city where this representative is welcomed and treated like a member of the family it is El Paso. I have spent a considerable amount of time in the far away west Texas border city. I came to know its unique politics and its people in my days when I served in party politics. I miss the place just writing about it.
Like my community and most of Texas, for that matter, politics is a sport enjoyed by all when football does not pull our interest in another direction. Like football it can be as reported by the El Paso Times a contact sport. We certainly understand that here in South Texas where fur is usually flying for one reason or another.
Take a look at the number of South Texas blogs that fill a bloggers blogroll and you will note that South Texas is overly represented. Another positive indication of how the larger border community savors its politics. Not to discount big city politics which can be at times as rough and tumble as any other place but the real grit of Texas politics occurs along the borderlands of this state.
To compliment our earlier link to El Paso politics, here are the recently released endorsements of the El Paso Paso del Norte Tejano Democrats headed by my good friend, Luis Mata.
