Toll Road Will Not Be Built In San Juan

This is just preliminary information that I picked up this morning, I am told that a proposed toll road will not be allowed to go through the city of San Juan, Texas. I was told that a vote against the toll road in the City of San Juan was made at todays commissioners court.

This ought to make The Muckracker's Sal Castello happy.

UPDATE: The Monitor reported on the news.

Rep,

Thanks for the info. Is the issue dead or will they re route it?

I am from the city of S.J. and would like to know.

The impression I was given was that it would be re-routed. Lets see. I will be given a full report Wednesday.

Rep,
was this voted down in San Juan's commissioner's court or Hidalgo County Commissioner's court?
Thanks,

About time Hidalgo County Commissioner Tito Palacios was put in his place. He questions every $.05 transaction on live TV, yet commissions multi-million dollar feasability studies to the benefit of his largest contributors on incredibly unpopular projects. Shows his arrogance...

Hey anonymous, I would love to hear about Palacios being put in his place. Who put him in his place and why, what was the discussion. I personally do not like the man, because of his arrogance and disrespect for Judge Garcia. I get the distinct impression that he is very envious of Judge's position and he wishes he were County Judge. He always attempts to comandeer the discussions and thinks he knows it all. If the voters of Hidalgo County come together we can get rid of all 4 commissioners. There's something very suspect when all 4 commissioners, a bank and other politicians are working together to oust Judge Garcia. I believe it's because since his term they've been kept honest, and not by their own volition.

Palacios the Undertaker who looks and sounds like he has been taken under, needs to be ousted from office. I also totally agree with anonymous 2-14 and the opinion that the commissioners have been kept in check by Mr. Garcia. This is the first time the county hasn't been led through the mud by one of its leaders in years. Pulido wasn't accused of breaking laws while county judge, but he had very poor fiscal judgement, which resulted in very bad decisions for the county, notably the new county jail. We also had Good Ol Oscar, Pena's good friend, throw caliche in Willacy county and lease a county owned farm to a farmer. Before all of that mess, we had Mr. Ruiz and his problems; and though Ruiz was acquited, Hidalgo did receive a black eye politically because of the scandal. What negative things have happened in county government while Ramon Garcia has been in office? NOTHING! The county has been in very good hands and shape since Ramon has been in office. We now have a surplus of over 12 million dollars, and taxes have not increased. Aaron, if you truly care about Hidalgo County, you yourself would support Ramon Garcia.

The caliche thrown in Willacy County was all done with money Hidalgo County tax-payers worked hard to earn, by the way.
