I was invited to speak to employees of the university of Texas -- Pan American. The Texas State Employees organization was doing some organizing and asked me to speak to their growing group. Salary, retirement issues and the current debate over school finance were some of the issues that we spoke about. This was a good bunch of folks who care about the management of their state and their university. Thank you TSEU for the hospitality and words of support.
Next, I walked through the library and met Candidate for Governor, Bob Gammage who was busy shaking hands with students who were gathering outside the library. Also there meeting a number of other candidates running for local office was a fellow blogger, Shaine Mata from RGV Life. Gammage and I took a photo with him. As always, speaking to the young politicos over at the university is the best part of my job. The enthusiasm and energy I found there was contagious.
This reminds me, let me thank the Young Democrats from UTPA for allowing myself and my fellow legislative colleagues, Veronica Gonzalez and Armando Martinez to address them as we introduced these students to the arguments in the upcoming special session on taxation.
Like the TSEU presentation, these students were as inquisitive as the University employees as to how our state got itself into the position it finds itself in on school finance. We did our best on that day and will jointly continue to fight to improver this community. One last thing to do here at the University, I walk across campus to the baseball stadium were the city and the United League were introducing a new baseball team for our community. The Roadrunners previously played here. Now a new team, the Coyotes would be introduced to the community. The stadium sits surrounded by University lands. Also our University's baseball team plays its games at the same location. I attended to support the effort to bring baseball back to our community.
Long day, but definitely a good one.

My identity is no secret. Permission granted. Thanks for introducing me. Good thing I wasn't dressed like a slob, per usual.
I like your blog... I came across it from a search done under the Edinburg 10k run. It was my first time doing it and is one of the reasons that I decided to buy a house in Edinburg.
Welcome friend! Make yourself at home.
