On the Valley's Talk Radio station, KURV 710, tonight starting at 7:00 p.m. If your listening in, or following the live-blog reports on RGV Life, I have a number of races that I am paying particular interest in from across the state. All of the South Texas races are important, a number of them will be won easily but some of them will be real nail bitters. I'll try to point these highly contested races out on this post. First the ones to watch in the Valley (these are the tight races and those likely to see a run off):
Texas State House Dist 38
Eddie Lucio, III (winner, without runoff)
Arnie Olivares
David Gonzales
Alfredo Montano
Hidalgo County District Attorney
Alma Garza (2nd place, runoff)
Rene Guerra (1st place, runoff)
Mauro Reyna
Judge, County Court #1
Jesse Contreras
Rudy Gonzalez (outright winner)
District Clerk
Laura Hinojosa (outright winner, no runoff)
Omar Guerrero
Robert Mendoza
County Clerk
Andrew Perez
Joseph Campos
Arturo Guajardo, Jr. (winner, no runoff)
Balde Morales
County Commissioner Pct 4
Oscar Garza (winner, no runoff)
Don Medina
Leonardo Camarillo
Here are the final election results from Hidalgo County Election's Office.

I would be healthy to have the DA race go into a tight runoff. I think the current office holder needs to be served some humble pie. I think we all do from time to time. How does the saying go?
"Absolute power...corrupts, absolutely!"
