Today I have three bills on the floor on which I have my name attached. Of these, HB 1105 is probably most important to a larger number of people in the district. HB 1105 provides the changes needed to make the TRS pension fund actuarially sound and would allow the issuance of a "13th Check" to eligible retirees in September 2007. The vote is up today on the House calender. Earlier, I joined a group of legislators and a number of leaders from various teacher organizations in support of the bill and to further commit to continue working for all teachers across this state.
The bill passed favorably on to engrossment 141 to 0.
