Looks like the end of session fashion du jour is filing to be Speaker of the Texas House. Looks like Paul Burka is right, everyone in the Texas House wants to be Speaker. The candidates to date: Rep. Brian McCall of Plano, Rep. Fred Hill of Richardson, Rep. Jim Pitts, R-Waxahachie, and Rep. Jim Keffer, R-Eastland. All Republican members.
This morning the joke on the House floor is members approaching each other jokingly asking if they have filed for Speaker. My response is that I've exercised the opt out provision. Moments ago Noriega asked at the back mic where the line was to sign up. My personal observation is that session will end without change.

Burka is trying to be a kingmaker to make himself relevant in the Texas Blogsphere. :)
Once again, failure seems to be the soup du jour for those that oppose the speaker.
Actually, I think failure is the soup du jour for the 80th Legislature.
What happened to advance the ball for the good of Texans?
All I see all around me are schools failing, electricity rates rising, insurance rates gone amok, college tuition too high . . . and these are just the things that affect me where I'm at in life.
