Will Looney Memorial Park at the Museum of South Texas History

As we continue to roll down the success stories, I cannot omit the $750,000 addition to the Museum of South Texas History. With matching funds we may see a $1.5 million dollar addition in the form of the Will Looney Memorial Park. A recent photo shows that the work has already begun.

One of the features of the park will be a statue of Will Looney, an Edinburg resident who died in an automobile accident in Mexico. He was the son of Cullen and Carol Looney from our community. There will also be water features along side a windmill, sundial and palapa. There will also be an area set aside for story time surrounding the history of the region. The entire park, which sits next to the old historic jail house, will surrounded by a wrought iron fence for the security of it's guests.
