We Are First On The Ballot

The Hidalgo County Democratic Party had it's second largest function of the campaign season tonight. Nearly all the candidates and their supporters showed up to seek the chance of drawing the first position on the ballot. Since my opponent failed once again to appear at yet another Democratic function, I was the only candidate present to draw in for the District 40 race. I am pleased to report that we drew the first position on the ballot. Local political lore maintains that the first poll position is to be desired and can be advantageous. I am not quite sure if this is true but most of the candidates in the room this night seem to share the belief that it does. My two eldest children are pictured here sharing in the joy from having drawn the first place ball. We are at 54 days and counting till our primary election day.

Rep. Pena I was really disgusted at some of the really dirty nasty things that Eddie Saenz has been saying about you. Why don't you hit back. For example you haven't touched the fact that he does not live in the district. Please answer this one question. Will you make this an issue.

We are less than two months till the primary election. Sadly, some people believe that campaigning means trashing your opponent. Early on I asked my opponent to give it a try and run a positive campaign for once. His bloggers and paid staff have spent years going in the opposite direction. Some of his neighbors have called and informed of us where he lives. I thought about this and I would rather beat him straight on. I leave it to the Republicans to challenge his residency if they want to. I think it serves the community best if we have a straight on choice. Have faith friend I am expecting the best.
