Today I joined U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, and Veterans Affairs Secretary James Peake, along with other Valley leaders and veterans to discuss the expansion of the South Texas VA Health Care Center. The expanded clinic along with the proposed changes we discussed should reduce the need for veterans to travel to the nearest VA hospital - Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans Hospital in San Antonio. The matters discussed are a clear victory over where we were years ago when a small group of us marched to San Antonio to bring attention to this issue.
