The Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Tom Craddick, made a visit to South Texas on this day. South Texas College had a brief presentation for the Speaker regarding the growth, successes and needs of the college. The story coming out of the visit was the projection that the state will enjoy a $15 billion dollar surplus come next session. Local television picked up an interview.
