I was invited to appear on KURV Talk Radio to discuss presidential politics. Davis Rankin wanted to discuss the current state of affairs in the presidential race. His conservative audience was surely interested in the Republican loss in the congressional race in Mississippi and its possible foretelling of doom and gloom for Republicans in upcoming elections. Following much of our discussion here is an informative discussion of the matter that I found at RealClearPolitics.com.
We also discussed of the status of Hispanics as a swing vote in this cycle. This struggle by both Republicans and Democrats is further fleshed out in an article by Ruben Navarrette. I have in the past described a good segment of the Hispanic population as falling within the group described as Reagan Democrats and the Democrat in the presidential race will need to be mindful of this fact.
Lastly, we discussed the possible effect the prolonged campaign for the Democratic nomination could have. On the show I mentioned a good article on the possible ramifications that appeared in the Wall Street Journal. I recommend it for your reading.
Radio appearances have always been helpful in communicating with the community. On top of that its fun to dissect the politics of the day with the rest of you political junkies.
