Juan Alamia Musters In and Joins Rough Riders



On this day back on May 27, 1898 Juan Alamia mustered in under the name John B. Alamia in San Antonio, Texas at the Menger Hotel to serve in the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry.

Juan Alamia served as a Rough Rider in the Spanish American War. He later died in the Mexican Revolution. Juan Alamia was born (abt. 1876) to Benito Alamia and Francisca Ybarra in Point Isabel, Texas (now known as Port Isabel).
