The Texas Military Forces

A proud day for me today as I was given the oath in connection with my new position with the Texas State Guard. Major General, Chris Powers, administered the oath while I gladly accepted the appointment by Governor Perry and the Adjutant General to the rank of Major as a Staff Judge Advocate serving in the Command Headquarters in Austin, Texas.

The Texas State Guard is one of three branches of the Texas Military Forces, reporting to The Texas Adjutant General located at Texas Military Forces HQ, Camp Mabry (Austin), Texas. The Commander in Chief of the Texas Military Forces is the Governor of Texas. The other two branches are the Texas Army National Guard and the Texas Air National Guard.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Capitol on the floor of the Texas House of Representatives. Speaker Joe Straus and Brigadier General, Raymond Peters joined family members on the rostrum during the ceremony.
