The title says it all, "The Long Road Home." The new job in Austin keeps me away from the familiar in South Texas for extended periods of time. This afternoon I hit the road back to see family and friends after an extended absence. Last weekend my weekend with family was disrupted by a last minute request to travel to New York City for a television interview. What I miss most is the small things: backyard barbeques with the family, watching television with the family or catching a movie with my wife. I look forward to some catching up and doing some of the routine rhythms of life that we all take for granted until they're gone.
